Songs We Hot-Boxed the Jeep to…
My friends and I grew up in a pretty small town in Ontario. There wasn’t much to do but drive around and hit the usual hangouts.
The Jeep, a 1986 Wagoneer, was one of the cast of characters involved in these explorations. It could carry a multitude of passengers, and good times. It had a reliable CD player, but not a very reliable engine.
These are some of the songs that stood for a time and place. Whether its the car-horn placed in the pause in hHead’s ‘Love’, or barelling down the old railway tracks with the headlights off blaring ‘Make it Now Again’ by Mudhoney, these tracks all illustrate something familiar to these Lindsay kids.
I originally assembled this CD as an xmas present to a few close friends in 1997, and decided to make the podcast version of it available. It is kind of the originator of my best-of series, lthough it doesn’t follow the best-of-the-year format perse.
